US Lacrosse, the governing body for men’s and women’s lacrosse, has promoted Stephen Berger to men’s game director from men’s game manager, effective April 2.

Berger will serve as the leading advocate for the men’s games, providing access to and information about US Lacrosse’s leadership and efforts in the sport’s development.

Berger joined the nonprofit’s staff in 2009 as the men’s division associate and a year later was promoted to men’s game manager.

He played for Washington College, where he earned a B.A. in sociology, and was the last selection in the 2004 Major League Lacrosse draft.

From 2004 to 2011 Berger played for the Long Island Lizards, and was traded this year to the new Charlotte Hounds.
